Director of Design

For Hulu, I led creative leadership for Product Design, Marketing, and On-air Production—successfully contributing to business growth from $400M in 2011 to $1B in revenue in 2013 and 1.5M to 5M monthly subscribers.

During my tenure as Design and Creative Director, we overhauled every significant experience—Web, TV, Tablet, Android, and iOS Phone platforms. Our guiding principles were to significantly increase the usability, help people find something great to watch, strip away the feature bloat, and create a cinematic, emotional experience. Since the launch of these products, the work has defined new standards in experience and UI design for streaming video—many of which are still considered best in class today.

 

Product experience improvements saw an average increase of 40% in viewership and minutes watched year over year. Innovative new advertising formats doubled impressions served, attracting 80+ new ad partners.

Contributed to business growth from $400M in 2011 to $1B in revenue in 2013 and 1.5M to 5M monthly subscribers.

Rebuilt and led three distinct teams of 15 professionals across product, marketing, and on-air production to define and craft pioneering video and acquisition experiences of the highest quality.
